When their celebration party is gate-crashed by the sudden arrival of three spacecrafts, the small human colony on Eden is dumbfounded. How the spaceships escaped Earth’s destruction is a mystery compounded only by the fleet’s unknown whereabouts for ten long years. Still, their confusion gives way to wistful expectation. Could this truly be a new day? The chance to start over with familiar technology, and tens of thousands of fellow humans with whom the colony can rebuild the future. Or is it too good to be true?
Facing murder charges and certain execution in a Zikalic tribunal, Ristan Abel’s suspicions of the new, enigmatic Captain gather traction. In confronting the mounting threat, he sees his chance to redeem himself in one final hurrah. However, all is at stake. Embroiled in a battle of wits with the Captain, at what odds does he gamble in a high-stakes showdown that could obliterate the whole planet?

Eden Dusk The Chronicles of Paradise eBook Archer Swift
Seventeen year old Ristan Abel was still recovering from the heavy pounding his body had received in the events of two weeks prior when three space crafts, Ark II, Ark III and Ark IV arrived unexpectedly on their planet. Ark I with Ristan and many other humans from an almost destroyed planet Earth had arrived ten years previously, but their number had been decimated until there were only a few hundred survivors. The planet was home to the Zikalic community and even though there was a tentative truce finally after all the years of violence and destruction, the guarantee of peace between the Zikalics and the Humans was fragile. When Ristan and the Mzees were instructed to appear before the Captain of the spaceship, Ristan felt uneasy – he could see that things didn’t add up with the new arrivals; their vicious and cruel soldiers, led by a cold and sadistic Captain Vortem and his sidekick Wong had plans that didn’t seem to include any current inhabitants of the planet. With the small band of Humans on planet Zika celebrating the arrival of more from Earth, were their hopes and prayers for the future to be dashed once again?
As dangers escalated and tensions mounted, Ristan knew that once again lives would be on the line. But fight they must; their very survival depended on success – but at what cost?
An excellent conclusion to the Chronicles of Paradise trilogy, Eden, Dusk is filled with the fast paced adventures of the previous two – Eden, Dawn and Eden, Noon. Aussie author Archer Swift’s imagination knows no bounds with the tension mounting as events unfolded. I highly recommend this series but feel reading them in order is vital.

Eden Dusk The Chronicles of Paradise eBook Archer Swift Reviews
The trilogy is set the players are in place, there are twists and turns a plenty and just plain wrong things occur. Ristan must fight for the aliens he used to consider the enemy because Humans that have followed plan to take over the planet instead of share. The new peace has been strained by those of his own people and now the breaking points are straining. The trilogy is one of the best I have read and I am honored to have had the pleasure. Mankind can be cruel, others can also be just as cruel when they are on a collision course, heaven help the losers. Rist will step back and realize that the women prepared to sacrifice themselves for him do so out of not only love but a vision that is greater then those of males.
Eden Dusk is book 3 in the Chronicles of Paradise.
Having endured a long hard decade on Eden they have now made peace with the original inhabitants of Eden, now known as Zika, and can see a future on this planet.
Three more Arks arrive and it now looks like the human race has a good chance of survival. But everyone is not who they claim to be and Ristan finds he must again use his wit and cunning to ensure his friends’, old and new, survival.
When I started reading this instalment of the Chronicles I felt that it was too dark and sinister and had moved away from the young Adult mould.
However, that aside, the story was tension filled and action packed. The imagery flowed effortlessly. It’s a story where you definitely want good to prevail and evil to fall but the battle is hard to watch and at times you just want to turn away but are compelled to read on.
A fitting epilogue wraps up the story nicely and it was good to see Ristan, who was so angst ridden throughout the whole series, has matured and made peace with himself.
”I am who I am through the choices I make, and how I face the inevitable consequences that arise through my decision-making.” Ristan Abel
